I've been meaning to write about the 15" M2 MacBook Air for a while, and I guess today's the day since Apple just up and announced the M3 version. Let me tell you about my freshly obsolete computer.
And yes, it is my computer — that’s right, I actually bought a laptop. Much as I still prefer to use the iPad Pro when travelling, I've taken some trips lately where I really did need to have a Mac along for the ride, like Mobile World Congress last week. That's why I recently decided to swap out my M1 Mac mini for a 15" M2 Air that I use in clamshell mode 99% of the time.
I feel pretty good about that decision so far. This might be the best laptop I've ever owned.
For me, macOS is the Big Computer Screen OS. I mostly use it for things that work better on big screens — photo editing, multitasking, file management, laying out Multicore posts, and so on. (Substack's CMS does not work great on mobile Safari.) All of that happens at home at my desk, and I rarely get any of it done outside.
