Welcome back to Multicore. This is Instruction Set for the week of Monday, April 29th.
I got a great response last week to both the Multicore redesign and the VWFNDR piece, so thank you to everyone who read or commented. I really appreciate all the feedback, not to mention James Bareham’s fantastic work on the redesign. The Verge also ended up picking up the VWFNDR story for syndication, which was cool.
I will say the timing was not great on my part. I wanted to get the redesign and that piece out together, as you’d expect. But then we immediately hit the Golden Week holiday season here in Japan and I’m going to be largely out of pocket through next week, so I haven’t been able to follow up with as much as I’d like.
Still, things are afoot. Consider the redesign a soft reboot that will go into full force soon.
As for this week, things have been pretty quiet even with the extra couple of days to gather stories. It feels like everyone’s taking a breather ahead of Apple and Google’s events next week.
Apple’s event next week? Yeah, Apple finally announced an event for next week. It’s happening on May 7th at the unusual time of 7AM PST.
Given the illustration on the invite, it seems safe to say this will be the long-awaited overhaul to the iPad lineup. But there’s a late twist to the rumour mill.
