Welcome to Multicore. This is Instruction Set for the week of Monday, February 19th, coming at you later than usual because things have been hectic and are only going to get more so.
I’m about to head to the airport to fly to Barcelona for Mobile World Congress 2024. It’ll be my first time at the show since before the pandemic, so I’m looking forward to getting right back into it. MWC is always a great time with a bunch of new things to check out and people to meet.
For now, let’s catch up with the past week in tech before surrendering ourselves to the telecom abyss.
Microsoft’s much-vaunted Xbox announcement turned out to be underwhelming. Four first-party games, which for some reason Microsoft wouldn’t initially confirm the names of but have since been confirmed as Hi-Fi Rush, Sea of Thieves, Pentiment, and Grounded, are making their way to other platforms; the first two to the PS5, and the latter pair to the Nintendo Switch.
