Welcome back to Multicore for Tuesday, February 28th. This week is all about Mobile World Congress, the world's biggest mobile-focused tech trade show.
I've always enjoyed going to MWC, and not just because it's in Barcelona. Unlike CES the previous month, there tends to be a lot more in the way of substantive tech breakthroughs, and the convention centre is much easier to get around. It does, of course, also help that you don't have to deal with Las Vegas traffic in order to meet people in hotel rooms above labyrinthine casinos. Hopefully the Multicore HR department will be in a position to approve the budget for a business trip next year.
A lot of real business is done at MWC every year. Even if tech companies don't have much of note to announce, they'll almost always have a presence on the ground and behind the scenes. I can only imagine the shadowy discussions going on right this second between European telecom execs wondering how to market 6G to normal people after the years of 5G hype landed with a thud.
Anyway, all of that is thankfully beyond Multicore's purview, for the most part, and we have more than enough tangible tech to talk about today.
