VR, Godzilla, and camera DLC

Welcome back to Multicore. This is Instruction Set for the week of Monday, December 4th.

I don’t know about you, but I spent my Saturday in Hakone at a spa resort that was running a collaboration with the new Godzilla film, Godzilla Minus One.

I’m not really sure what they were going for with this hot tub. The water was black and sometimes they’d pipe Godzilla noises through the speakers, but nothing seemed particularly radioactive. I should probably watch the movie.

Anyway, we have a real grab bag of stuff today, so let’s get into it.

Valve released a Steam Link app for Meta Quest headsets. This means you can stream Steam VR games wirelessly from your PC straight to your headset.

It’s long been possible to do this with third-party Windows apps like Virtual Desktop or Meta’s own Oculus Link, but this should be a much sleeker solution in practice since you can launch everything from inside the headset. Maybe I’ll finally get around to finishing Half-Life: Alyx.
